Starter Activity
All students should sit in a circle before commencing the game, Cookie Jar. Have students establish a beat with their knees and hands and copy the following words.
Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?
(name) stole the cookie from the cookie jar?
Who, me? Yes, you.
Couldn't be! Then who?
This should be repeated with students getting out when they make a mistake either with the words or the rhythm. The rhythms should get increasingly more difficult as students become more comfortable with each rhythm.
Lesson Body
Student's should collect their chairs from behind their desks and transfer the rhythms from Cookie Jar onto their chairs.
Conclusion
Have the students revise the new terminology and notes they've learned before they are allowed to pack up and return to their usual positions.
