Starter Activity
All students should begin by listening to the beginning of Youngblood by 5 Seconds of Summer, and notate the first drum pattern (shown in the grid below) in small groups or pairs.

Lesson Body

While viewing the beat grid, students should play along with the track of Youngblood, playing everything on the back of their chairs as done in previous lessons.
Students should then break out into groups and consider which parts
of the chair they might want to play each different section of the piece.

This grid mimics the drum track the piece and should give the students a sense that they are playing 'real music'. Once students have demonstrated their patterns for the rest of the class, the class should vote to pick a product, and use it for their performance after practicing all together.

Conclusion
Have the students perform the piece with the drumless track.
